True love is like the maximum blossom of a rose.
The golden rules of true love, what we all aim for but feel unqualified or out of the league, are few.
True love is absolutely pure. Sincere. Dedicated. No hesitation. No wavering. No hint of doubt in the other. True love goes through misunderstanding. Heartbreak. Distance. To remain attached to its partner.
True love is ferociously adamant in protecting its loved one, blocking the way of intruders 10 times its size without calculating the thought of loss of self. True love gets generated between two people of the opposite sex.
What about a stronger, wider, more enduring true love? Let's see... Does true love exist outside the couple?
How about between mother and child? No one has to think about it. Such an automatic "Yes!" Mother absolutely, unconditionally, eternally loves her child. The child, too, has this inherent, from-birth-bond with her mother. Unbreakable. Life-long. That love is true love.
How about between brothers and sisters who have grown up together? Close. Through trials. Through entanglements. Through common sorrows. Through pillow fights. Jokes. Secret hand-signals. Through the simple fragrant moments of their entire youth, they come to love each other so deeply and reciprocally that this, too, can be called true love.
These two examples of true love are the stem and the leaves, the growth before the bud. Finally, the flower of true love is between a man and a woman.
Okay. Let's un-prune this rose bush.
The love one has for their parents is precious starter love. The love one has for a sibling is precious practicing love. These two loves create the rose fiber, the stem, the leaves, by which a new type of fiber of a completely different texture, color, fragrance bursts. Unique. Exclusive. The love with one partner. The love in the marriage.
This love can last, now that it has learned to be faithful. Learned to be singular. To be generous in the pre-bud stage.
The height of love is to be experienced by a couple. The perfection of love is like the maximum blossoming of a rose. The flowers open to its climax. That is marital love. That is the pinnacle of love. That is love at its peak, at its fullest. Love that cannot be plucked by another. In true love -- only one partner can smell this rose.
It is this true love that produces good mature seeds. The rose petals fold back and drop to nurse the seeds, the result of true love, the next generation of true love, the multiplication of true love. Parental love.

Highly Trained by my wife
Back in '82, I married into another country, another race, another language and culture, another way of doing things, simple things, like organizing kitchen shelves, tying shoes, shopping for bread, all different... when I married my beloved from Japan, Yoshi.
We were introduced by our favorite pastor but could not be more opposite, except our birth dates which shoulder each other. Our marriage turned out to be a blessing. I'm a pastor, an uncle, and a grandpa. Stick around, you might learn something from our boiling marriage stew.
