Heaven, a mere movement of the eyebrows.
I have a burst of wonderful. Set on the table of my mind is an incalculable array of fine China. The serene glint of gold-trim on the crystal glasses captures my eye. Embroidered napkins surface this invisible dining experience, brought on by the invitation of heaven, so close, as it's becoming these days, a blink away, a moment to breathe the essence of its thought.
Just thinking of heaven, it is present.
The dark chasm separating earth from heaven, as it used to be, like chipping cement from a block wall when praying, with hope dried, that deferential dark distance has collapsed into a threshold of inches. The deep and dangerous curb is gone, replaced with a small wash bowl. Only a rinse is necessary to enter.
How broken we have been to have forgotten this table setting. The one piece in my hand, a remembered keepsake, was all I thought there was. But in the dark, God kept them, collecting them as we lost them, to reset this magnificent table for the feast. And then light the candles.
I need to wash up - quickly - before sitting down.

Highly Trained by my wife
Back in '82, I married into another country, another race, another language and culture, another way of doing things, simple things, like organizing kitchen shelves, tying shoes, shopping for bread, all different... when I married my beloved from Japan, Yoshi.
We were introduced by our favorite pastor but could not be more opposite, except our birth dates which shoulder each other. Our marriage turned out to be a blessing. I'm a pastor, an uncle, and a grandpa. Stick around, you might learn something from our boiling marriage stew.
