With limited vocabulary, how creativity and gratitude merge to form a new thing.
My vocabulary limits my expression. Not having the word I want, I instead rearrange the furniture of my voice.
The great gratitude I feel for a chair, for instance, calms me. The contours, the four stout legs, the bands of wood holding it together, the tucked in seat cover, the deep auburn stain. Both design and utility tie the ribbons of gold appreciation onto my inner eye. Nothing is surreal. Just stark beauty.
I'm grateful I'm in a pleasant place, which may have more to do with it than the furniture. Rearrange them, I can. But who would say it became more pleasant thus?
I stay bound to the floor, held by gravity. Thank God. For the more of it...
I have to think of God who wants me to succeed, while feeling this room floating, filled with ecstatic Thank You's, arranged for the living.

Highly Trained by my wife
Back in '82, I married into another country, another race, another language and culture, another way of doing things, simple things, like organizing kitchen shelves, tying shoes, shopping for bread, all different... when I married my beloved from Japan, Yoshi.
We were introduced by our favorite pastor but could not be more opposite, except our birth dates which shoulder each other. Our marriage turned out to be a blessing. I'm a pastor, an uncle, and a grandpa. Stick around, you might learn something from our boiling marriage stew.
